Types of Civil Affidavits We Draft

• General Name Change Affidavit: Mandatory declaration stating current legal name, proposed new name, parentage, permanent address, and reasons for change.
• One and the Same Person Affidavit: Critical declaration when different identity cards reflect varying spellings, initials, or omitted surnames (e.g., 'Rajesh K.' vs 'Rajesh Kumar').
• Minor Child Name Change Affidavit: Executed by father, mother, or legal guardian declaring the minor's name alteration for school and passport records.
• Post-Marriage Name Change Affidavit: Executed by a married woman declaring change of surname and adoption of husband's family name.
• Signature Discrepancy Affidavit: Required by banks and financial institutions when an individual's signature has evolved over time.

Stamp Duty & Attestation Rules

Under the Indian Stamp Act and relevant state stamp rules, affidavits must be executed on non-judicial stamp paper (or e-stamp paper) of the prescribed value:

• Delhi NCR: Minimum ₹10 e-stamp paper for general affidavits (many departments recommend ₹20 or ₹50 e-stamps).
• Attestation Authority: For Gazette of India submission, affidavits must be attested by a duly appointed Notary Public or an Executive Magistrate / SDM with their official seal, registration number, and expiry date.
